Disabled Person-Led Monitoring Research
The Donald Beasley institute has been carrying out disabled person-led monitoring research on behalf of the government and the Disabled Persons Organisation Coalition.
In 2019, they interviewed more than 70 disabled people and their whānau about housing. These housing reports are expected to be released soon. Now they are beginning to focus on health and wellbeing services. One of the most important things about this research is that it is entirely led by people with disabilities. It aims to make sure the government is acting in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
