Voices Project Report Released
The Voices Project Report has been released. You can read the report here. It aims to highlight the concerns of people with profound disabilities and those who care for them. It is filled with stories from whanau caring for family members with high and complex needs. They share their experiences and frustrations with the disability system. The report was created by the New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres and the Complex Care Group. It was funded by the Working Together More Fund.
“Minister of Disability Issues, Hon Carmel Sepuloni, spoke at the Launch and acknowledged the courage of family members who shared their stories in the report. The Minister said it was vital to be able to hear all voices but not to fold them all into one. Disabled people who rely on whanau to communicate for them are a very distinct group who need to be able to contribute to the conversations about disability issues.”
