What we can offer

We can help by:

  • Providing free disability and health related information and advice
  • Connecting you with the relevant health and disability services
  • Directing you to financial assistance, activities, or respite options
  • Advising on products available to purchase and/or hire to remove barriers to daily living
  • Total Mobility Scheme provider

Helpful Links

  • If you have an impairment which is likely to last for longer than 6-months and you find managing daily tasks difficult you may be eligible for Government funded equipment, vehicle or housing modifications. A needs assessment will determine your eligibility.

  • Enabling Good Lives (EGL) is a new approach to supporting disabled people that offers greater choice and control over the supports you receive so you can plan for the lives you want.

  • Help disabled people live successful lives, to help them take their place in society, where their contribution is valued, and they are included.

  • The Federation is a voluntary network for the purposes of upholding established national standards, training, promotion and lobbying processes. Aspire Canterbury is a proud member of the NZFDIC.

  • Underpinning the New Zealand Disability Strategy 2016 - 2026 is a vision of a fully inclusive society. New Zealand will be inclusive when people with impairments can say they live in ‘A society that highly values our lives and continually enhances our full participation’.

  • The Ministry of Health website provides a range of information on getting support, disability information and who to contact if you have a question about Ministry funded disability services or you need to make a complaint.

  • Vehicle Modification. Vehicle modifications must be carried out appropriately and a health professional in driving training and an approved certifier will ensure that the vehicle is safe and the alterations meet the needs of the user.
